The first success of the Baraka Youth Empowerment Fund was an innovative summer leadership program for the Baraka School alumni through Baltimore’s own Urban Leadership Institute.ÂThe young men developed their skills in public speaking, empowering and inspiring younger children in their communities, entrepreneurial development, and goal setting.

 

Leo (Today)

We are kicking-off a Scholarship Fundraising Campaign in celebration of graduation season.ÂWe will be awarding scholarships for the Baraka School alumni who are graduating from high school and preparing to pursue further academic and leadership goals.

 

Kesho (Tomorrow)

Our next step will be to promote the legacy of the Baraka experience by raising seed money for the establishment of a Baltimore chapter of Summer Search. Summer Search is a national leader in mentoring, leadership development, and domestic and international experiential enrichment. A Summer Search branch will annually provide up to 250 low income high school students from Baltimore with two summer travel experiences, year-round mentoring for three years of high school, SAT preparation, college application assistance, and a national network of successful graduates.ÂTo learn more visit www.summersearch.org.
